The first profile projector was a benchmark for ergonomics and precision in 1955. From the 1960s to the 1980s, Werth Messtechnik developed measuring projectors with first the opto-electronic detector “Werth Tastauge” and then a digital control for CNC measuring machines. In 1987, the first multisensor CMM with integrated image processing and a laser sensor was presented under the name Inspector®. With the introduction of VideoCheck®, Werth democratized the use of digital image processing in industrial coordinate metrology during the 1990s. For the first time, a fully automatic measuring machine with a modular concept combined high performance and a moderate price.
