Under the responsibility of the Director General, the Director of Laboratories, member of the Management Committee:

  • defines the centre's strategy for the development of calibration and testing activities,
  • manages the organization of laboratories,
  • and ensures the production of these services.

 

The laboratory management includes 55 employees divided into 5 entities:

  • a metrology laboratory,
  • a team of measurements and calibrations on customer site,
  • a testing laboratory for thermodynamic machines,
  • a testing laboratory for ventilation and heating systems,
  • and finally a team of business managers in charge of managing tests on behalf of our customers in the two previous laboratories.

It generates a turnover of around € 5.5 million, or 40% of CETIAT's turnover.

 

The Laboratory Director relies on the 5 managers of the entities described above (middle managers) to lead, motivate, organize, train, evaluate and control the teams under his responsibility. Its direct management is supplemented by an administrative department of 3 people in charge of sending reports on the results to customers and invoicing.

 

He oversees the organization of technical services in accordance with our quality management system. The vast majority of tests and calibrations are carried out under accreditation in accordance with the ISO 17025: 2017 standard.

 

It ensures the economic profitability of these services and suggests any solution that could improve it.

 

In conjunction with the Marketing and Sales Department, he is a driving force behind the development of new testing and calibration products.

 

He is also a source of proposals for all the investments necessary for the operation and development of laboratories. He manages, in conjunction with the Technical Services, the deployment of the investments decided upon.

 

It works, functionally, in close collaboration with the Department of Studies and Training and the Department of Development and Partnerships to organize tests as part of the study services but also jointly develop new services for CETIAT.

 

Outside CETIAT, he coordinates relations with:

  • French and international product certifiers,
  • accreditation bodies (COFRAC)
  • French (LNE) and European (EURAMET) metrology bodies
  • and any active and influential network, related to its activities such as the CFM (French College of Metrology), the ad hoc working groups of the CTI Network, etc.

Your profile

  • General engineer or specialist in thermal / fluid mechanics
  • Successful experience in managing a profit center
  • Training and / or experience as a manager of technical teams
  • A solid base of knowledge of the physics of heat exchanges and / or of fluid mechanics; knowledge of climatic engineering products (heat pumps, boilers, ventilation, filters, etc.) and / or thermal and aeraulics measurement equipment will be a plus
  • In-depth knowledge of the principles and issues of accreditation according to the ISO 17025 standard; previous experience in an accredited laboratory activity will be a plus
  • An ability to organize the activities carried out according to operational processes and to optimize them; a prior LEAN management approach will be a plus
